
Anne-Marie graduated from the University of Sheffield, in England having obtained a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B.) in 1975 and having completed her professional exams at the College of Law (London, England) in 1976. She was called to the Bar at Gray’s Inn, England, on the 29th July, 1976 and admitted to practice in Jamaica on the 10th December 1977.
Soon after returning from her studies in the United Kingdom, in December 1977 Anne-Marie began a busy conveyancing practice in the real estate department of another large law firm. Five years later in 1982, she joined Livingston, Alexander and Levy to head the firm’s long established Intellectual Property Department.
Anne-Marie carries on the tradition of the firm in working closely with clients at all levels of the practice. Her main areas of focus include the registration of trade marks, designs and patents and the licensing, renewal and monitoring of such property to protect against infringement. She has acted for leading multinational corporations both in the prosecution and maintenance of their intellectual property and instructed Counsel in major trade mark cases which have received international attention. With over 30 years of experience in the area, Anne-Marie is highly regarded by clients and colleagues locally and internationally for her deep understanding of the area and her knack for speedy and practical solutions.
Anne-Marie is a member of the Jamaican Bar Association and its Intellectual Property Law Sub-Committee, the International Trademark Association (INTA), the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI) and the Intellectual Property Caribbean Association (IPCA). The World Trademark Review 1000 has consistently ranked Anne-Marie among “The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals.”
